In the first part, both pianists explore Rachmaninoff’s solo universe with preludes, etude-like pieces, character pieces, and moments of musical introspection. Afterward, their two voices converge on two grand pianos: in Suite No. 2 for Two Pianos, Op. 17, a work brimming with rhythmic power, shimmering waltz-like movement, and passionate intensity.
An evening for everyone who wants not only to hear Rachmaninoff but to experience him in all his sonic grandeur.
